The now infamous Winterleague commenced after the short break on Saturday the 20th of January with a bang.

Summer Superleague champions St Henri Harps took on PSC Cu Chulainn in the Concordia Loyola dome with the blistering cold weather outside not a deterring factor for players in attendance.

Harps showing no signs of the Holiday mince pies and pudding as they started much the brighter with points from power couple Laura Brody and Paul Ryan. The former showing some great determination to lead the Harps to a comfortable yet attainable lead at the break 10 – 3.

The second half team talk from PSC looked to have worked its magic as they clawed their way back into the game with solid defending by newcomer Alexis Kelly and scores from Conall ‘top button’ Macconnaith popping up with some much needed scores. With Aoife ‘Mayo for Sam’ Mchale and Jenn Dumais rising to the occasion it looked like there might have been an upset on the cards. But with Barry ‘I really shouldn’t be here’ Cox (sorry Father Ted fans) finding himself in unknown territory in the forward line adding to the scoreboard it was clear there would only be one winner.

Harps winning on a scoreline of 1-17 to 2-3.
