Recap

Report by: Annie Gaumond

The 2nd hurling game of the season between the PSC Cú Chulainns and the NDG Na Fianna Rouges started off with the loud crack of two hurls.

Both teams took to the pitch with something to prove: Cú Chulainn to defend their winter league champion status, and Na Fianna Rouges to break their spell of bad luck.

Cú Chulainn’s Kevin Hughes quickly got his name up on the leaderboard, but with every point scored, Na Fianna keeper Oliver Sakr delivered expertly aimed puck outs, allowing the likes of Damien Conneely, and Tony Cunningham to score a combined total of 9 points.

In goals for Cú Chulainn was Barry Cox who made some amazing saves, and continuously got the sliotar down the pitch with ease. New Cú Chulainn draft David Morrow was consistently accurate and quick to the ball, giving some of our senior players a run for their money.

Honourable mention should be made to Na Fianna’s Alan Baxter, who not only walked away with 6 points under his belt, but also 2 MVP of the night awards for both hurling and men’s football, ultimately leading Na Fianna Rouges to an incredible victory.

This marked the first win for Na Fianna Rouges, but after seeing the heart and skill with which they played, I doubt it will be their last!
