They most certainly were the fastest team out of the blocks. After just three minutes of play Goose Village opened the scoring with a goal from Alan Baxter, before the Vikings even got a chance to reorganise the Blackrocks had pressed forward. With a fantastic foot pass from Stevie Owens to Liam Twomey only for the ball to be saved by the great Olivier Sakr.

After a hectic start, Vikings opened there account with a point from the ever present Paddy Bourke. After some excellent goalkeeping by Oliver to deny Alan “the beard” Baxter, Paddy added some more scores to bring his tally to a healthy three points.

Verdun responded when needed with points coming from Ronan Corbett showing they always have another gear, a part of the make up of a league topping team.

That great finish coming from the boot of Clement Broca for the vikings. After an incredible half both teams went in for the half time tea and Jaffa cakes with the teams level at 3.2 to 1.8.

As the fall closed in on the summer so did the Vikings on the Blackrocks. Four minutes into the 2nd half a dropped ball in the Blackrocks square to be picked up by Thomas Dayon who struck the ball into the back of the Blackrocks net.
With the pressure now mounting on the Blackrock’s. they answered all of Verdun’s questions. A super fist pass by Alan Baxter to Liam came after 12 minutes all that was left for Liam to do was bury the ball past Ollie.

The final moments of the game was tit for tat, before the Vikings eventually pulling 4 points clear on the final whistle. All over for the BlackRocks. The final score ending Verdun Vikings 2.15 & Goose village 4.5.
