Recap
Report by: Galway Whispers
Week 2 had The Harps going against longtime rivals P.S.C.
P.S.C. had a near full line up as for the Harps, they were missing many top players, Captain Bourke, Dave Healy and Tom (I actually do have the coolest name after all) Blade who only showed up for the last 5 minutes and their muscle/bully Tiphaine Levrat.
The play kept going back and forth with neither team capable of setting their tone. Right out of the gates, Jake O. Was quick to jump on the loose ball in the forward line and had multiple players on his back but kept going relentlessly through the crowd, but he could not get a shot off before being silenced for the rest of the night. A few points were knocked over the bar by new addition Kieran Murphy for the Cu’s. Cáit Prenty played a stellar performance in midfield for the Harps and seemed to be their glue; she fought many Cu’s off free balls and tried to set up her team with brilliant sidelines, the Harps midfield would be incomplete if she went missing. Guillaume Blais was also putting a show after only playing his 2nd game. A wild swing gave him his first career goal and gave the Harps hope. The Cu’s kept the pressure with Paul Docherty scoring 2 goals in his first game. Conall (the barbarian) Mac Cionnaith also put a goal for his team, it is said while he was running down the field at full speed, he suddenly shifted into slow motion while turning his head to look at the camera and winking before burying the sliotar in the back of the net, this man is simply dreamy! Olivier Daoust was seen breaking a new Cultec hurl in this game, we give him a 7 out of 10 for his efforts here at The Galway Whispers, but the best hurl break still belongs to Carly Bennett for a perfect 10 out 10 style points last week.
At half time, Dave (Hon Galway) Glynn was seen writing down the potential 2019 12 pubs of Christmas bars. Let’s hope he calls them to make sure they are all open this time.
At the second half, we got to see other players shine, Marty Lawless as he took many runs outside his square to set up plays, Julie Houle was seen blocking forwards from going in dangerous zones and Sam Clark testing new grounds by playing in the midfield and stopping players dead in their tracks. Tom Blade showed up late and in a Dublin jersey to play the final minutes. Unfortunately it was too little too late as the Cu’s had accumulated a big enough gap that not even a boy in blue can overcome. Let’s hope his coach makes him run a few laps after that!
The Cu’s took over first spot and the Harps find themselves on hard ground as they must win the next game if they don’t want to be stuck in a hard situation. All eyes will be on the Rouge vs Cu’s for sole possession of first and potential a winter finals preview.
At press conference Aer Lingus revealed their new “not as bad as Ryanair” logo and kids were seen rewinding tapes with pencils as a school history project.
