Our first gameweek for the winter superleague of 2023 has come and gone, giving us plenty to talk about.
In ladies football, a lack of a killer instinct cost the Verdun Vikings dearly, as they couldn’t turn long periods of sustained pressure into much needed scores as the Goose Village Blackrocks made sure that all of their chances counted.
In the men’s football, the Concordia Warriors are laying claim to the mantle of ‘the team to beat’ with an imperious performance that left the Griffintown Gaels reeling.
And finally, in camogie it was a similar story to the ladies football, where a lack of decisiveness in front of goal and some top drawer goalkeeping meant that Na Fianna Rouges got the better of PSC Cu Chulainn.

Winter Superleague 2023: Week One
2023 is starting with a bang as we have three games to kick off the winter superleague.
The prestige of the opening game will be shared by the Goose Village Blackrocks and the Verdun Vikings in the ladies’ football – both sides eager to lay down a marker by which all the other ladies’ teams will be judged.
Following that, we have the Concordia Warriors, back for another winter season, against the Griffintown Gaels in the men’s football. The reformed Warriors have been also-rans for many a year, but there’s a hunger about this years team, will the Gaels be ready for them, or could we see the start of a glorious upset?
And finally, we cap off the evening with the first game of the Camogie superleague. New year, same teams – as PSC Cu Chulainn and N.D.G. Na Fianna Rouges begin a five game series in their quest to be crowned winter champions. Will it be three in a row for Na Fianna, or have PSC finally got the measure of them?
We hope you’ll join us for what promises to be an entertaining start to the winter season.
