Week eleven of the superleague sees a do or die fixture for the Goose Village Blackrocks in the ladies’ football, as they face the Verdun Vikings. Which is followed by the last hurling game of the regular season, with N.D.G. Na Fianna Rouges and PSC Cu Chulainn going head-to-head for the final time. All of this will start at 7pm on Monday the 15th of August, at Vanier College.
By any metric, it’s been a torrid season for the Blackrocks, currently winless and glued to the bottom of the table – but with a game in hand over their opponents tonight, there’s still a chance. They will need a win here to stand a realistic chance of making it to the final. A draw might suffice, but that would leave them with a score difference of twenty-five to overturn in their final game of the season. A task that would give Hercules himself pause. The Vikings know they’re one game away from booking their place in the final, otherwise, they’ll be left hoping for the Gaels to do them a favour.
With so much at stake, we can expect this to be a classic.
Following that, we have the last regular season game of Hurling. With their Hoodoo broken Na Fianna will be looking to make it two in a row and go into the finals as the equal of their opponents. PSC, having enjoyed nearly two seasons of uncontested dominance, will be eager to put their noisy neighbours back in their box, with a trademark performance.
The winner here will carry momentum into the first Hurling final, so expect this one to be a fierce clash as both sides look to tip their scales in their favour.
Summer Superleague 2022: Week Ten Results
Week ten of the 2022 summer superleague saw the Na Fianna dominate in the camogie, and in the men’s football, the vikings last chance to make the finals slipped through their fingers, as they lost out to the Gaels.
MVPs:
Camogie: Niamh Devaney (Na Fianna), Vanessa Chaton (PSC)
Men’s Football: Eanna Reidy (Vikings), Tony Cunningham (Gaels)
Summer Superleague 2022: Week Ten
Week ten of the superleague sees camogie action, with N.D.G. Na Fianna Rouges and PSC Cu Chulainn meeting for the third time, and the Verdun Vikings looking at a must win game against the Griffintown Gaels all starting at 7pm on Monday the 8th of August, at Vanier College.
In camogie, the momentum has been with the Rouge so far, but the gap has been narrowing, so if there was ever a time for PSC to move it up a gear and take the full points, then it’ll be now.
In men’s football, this is the last chance saloon for the Vikings. It’s been a season of near misses but if they don’t take full points from their final two games then there’s no chance at all of them making the finals. Even with that tall order fulfilled, it’ll still be down to favourable results elsewhere, but first things first.
As for the Gaels, victory here would make a place in the finals a certainty and also guarantee that they’ll face the Blackrocks in the final, but if they lose and there’s a chance they’d face the Vikings instead. Decisions, decisions…
