Summer Superleague 2021: Week Seven Results
Week seven of the Superleague saw two very tight games with well earned victories in both. In Ladies’ Football the Warriors and the Blackrocks met for the penultimate time in the regular season, for another back and forth game, with the winner only becoming clear towards the end as the Blackrocks pulled away and put the game beyond the reach of the Warriors.
With these sides meeting one more time before the finals, there’s still plenty to play for.
In men’s football, the Goose Village Blackrocks and the Griffintown Gaels both came into this knowing only a win would do, and the Gaels were quick to take the lead, with a strong defence shutting out the Blackrocks for long periods and forcing them to shoot from distance, while using their pace to exploit holes left when the Rocks pushed forward. The second half started with the rocks down by eight points, a margin they managed to claw back until it was only three points, but the Gaels held firm and turned the screws, eventually pulling away to win the match comfortably. They’ll be joining the Verdun Vikings in the finals at the end of September.
Summer Superleague 2021: Week Seven
The Montreal Shamrocks Summer Superleague continues on Friday the 27th of August, at the new location of Parc de la Louisiane and starting at 7pm.
We start with Ladies Gaelic football, this is the penultimate game of the series that’s swung back and forth during the summer, and with the last game of the regular series next week, this one is sure to see fierce competition as both sides try to make their mark on this season.
Following that, we have the last men’s football game of the season, with the winning team here almost guaranteed a place in the finals.
The last time these two sides met the Blackrocks came out on top, so they’ll be hoping to make it two in a row, where as the Gaels are fresh of a strong win against the vikings and will be looking to use that momentum to carry themselves all the way tot he finals.
With so much riding on both these games, they should both make for an excellent spectacle, so please do come and join us.
