Week two of the superleague is over and the league is slowly taking shape, but there’s still plenty to play for. Starting off we saw the remaining two ladies teams in action, with the Verdun Vikings going toe to toe with the Griffintown Gaels. Both sides showed grit and determination, but eventually the quality of the Gaels side shone through to give them a five-point victory.
Next, we had our very first hurling fixture, with N.D.G. Na Fianna Rouges taking on PSC Cu Chulainn. The scores were tight in the first half, as both teams took a while to find their stride, but after the break it was PSC who got there first, turning on the pressure and pulling away for an impressive twenty-six-point victory.
Finally, the last fixture saw the Verdun Vikings and the Concordia Warriors meet to finish off the first round of men’s football. The Warriors showed early promise and went into the second half with command of the game, but an impressive rally from the Vikings turned the tide and eventually led to the Vikings winning out by a margin of twenty points.
