Winter Superleague 2022: Week Five

Week five of the superleague sees men and ladies football action, as well as the second game of our camogie league. All of this will be happening this Saturday, the 2nd of April at the Concordia Stinger Dome, starting at 6pm.
The final round of men’s fixtures kick off with the Goose Village blackrocks taking on the Concordia Warriors. The Warriors now cannot make the superleague finals this year, but the Blackrocks are on thin ice here. Currently in 3rd, by virtue of score difference, they’ll need to take full honours in this game and then hope for a favourable result in the final game of the season. The Warriors, for their part, won’t be inclined to give the Rocks an inch. They’ve been solid all season despite the loss of key players, and while the results haven’t gone their way, they’ll be hoping to take full advantage of this last bite of the cherry. With so much riding on this game it’s sure of be a cracker.
Our middle fixture is our second Camogie game between N.D.G. Na Fianna Rouges and PSC Cu Chulainn. It’s advantage Rouge as we come into this, with the PSC still licking their wounds from the opening game. But it has been a few weeks and with more gametime and training under everyone’s belts we can expect to see PSC looking to right what they must feel was a grievous wrong, while Na Fianna will be looking to maintain their winning streak.
And finally, we have ladies’ football, with the Griffintown Gaels lining out against the Goose Village Blackrocks. Nobody is home and dry in the ladies’ league, contrary to previous reports, and both the Gaels and the Rocks would be looking to punch their ticket with a win here. More likely than not, the winner here will be a finalist – but if the stars align just right, both teams might go through anyways. Not that either side will be banking on that. We can expect both sides to give it their all in what will hopefully be a close fought and very entertaining match to round out another Saturday night at the Concordia Stinger Dome
