And here we are.
After six weeks of game the shortened 2022 Winter Superleague season is coming to a close, as we have our three remaining finals this Saturday the 16th of April, starting at 6pm in the Concordia Stinger dome.
Our first game is the ladies’ football final, where it’s the Goose Village Blackrocks and the Concordia Warriors vying for top honours. These teams tied when they last met this winter, and since then they’ve been keeping pace with each other. Right now, the Warriors sit on top of the table by virtue of score difference and it’s a difference of a single point. So, this fixture is far too close to call, and all signs point towards a fantastic match
Our second game is the men’s football final where it’s the Goose Village Blackrocks and the Griffintown Gaels duking it out. These side met in the opening fixture of the men’s league and the Gaels took a six-point victory there, and they’ve recently stymied the ambitions of the Vikings to make the final, and handily dispatched the warriors, so they’ll feel that they have the form coming into this fixture to take the title for themselves. The Rocks haven’t been slacking either and since that opening defeat have gone on a run of fine form that saw them equal the Gaels performance against the warriors and managed to do what the Gaels couldn’t – beat the Vikings. And that is the case the Rocks camp will be making among themselves for why they are the favourites here.
Regardless, it’s been a league full of tense and thrilling fixtures, and this promises to continue that fine tradition
And finally, we will have the first ever superleague Camogie finals – the N.D.G. Na Fianna Rouges vs PSC Cu Chulainn. It’s been one way traffic so far, the Rouges have had two comprehensive wins under their belt, while PSC are still searching for their first. But that doesn’t matter now, this is a winner takes all final, and if the Cus can find the right shape so that they finally click the Na Fianna will have one hell of a fight on their hands.
