Winter Superleague 2022: Week Five Results

Week five of the Superleague has decided the ladies’ football finalists, while the men’s final still hangs in the balance. Meanwhile, Camogie goes from strength to strength, setting us up for an explosive finale.
Beginning with Men’s football, the Goose Village Blackrocks have done everything they could to make it into the finals, with a ten-point victory over a depleted Concordia Warriors side. Now, they are reliant on the Gaels doing them a favour in next weeks fixture to keep their place in second. A Vikings victory with a margin of eight points or more will see the Vikings go to the finals instead, so all eyes will be on the dome next Saturday to see how this plays out.
The camogie league continues with N.D.G. Na Fianna Rouges taking on PSC Cu Chulainn for the second time this season. A close game at half time, with only four points in it, but in the second half Na Fianna began to run away with it, scoring seven goals and two points to PSC’s two goals and five to make it a comfortable victory in the end. Both sides will meet again in the final in two weeks’ time, where PSC will look to reassert themselves over this league, while the Rouges will be eyeing up a clean sweep of the league.
And finally, the ladies’ football fixture settled our finalists for the winter 2022 season. The Goose Village Blackrocks took their game against the Griffintown Gaels by the scruff of the neck early, and never let it go. Leading by twelve at half time, they saw off a substantial rally in the second half to run out definitive winners and with relegating the Gaels to watching from the sidelines come the finals. Joining them will be the Concordia Warriors, who are now firmly in second place in the table.
