Week two of the superleague sees a return to a full card of fixtures this Saturday, the 5th of March at the Concordia Stinger Dome, starting at 6pm.
First up we have Ladies Football, with the Verdun Vikings taking on the Griffintown Gaels. With the Goose Village Blackrocks having already put points on the board and with the season being so short, the teams here will know that this is going to be an important opportunity to put themselves in contention for a spot in the final. Both these teams have supplemented their core of experienced players with fresh talent so expect this match to go down to the wire.
Our inaugural hurling game of the season is the middle fixture, with the N.D.G. Na Fianna Rouges and PSC Cu Chulainn taking to the field for the first in their three-game series. With these teams being complete redrafts due to the split in hurling and camogie for this winter league, both are stacked with talent. The deciding factor here will be which team starts to gel first, as once either side gets into full flow, they’ll be hard to stop. This is a historic game, and not to be missed
Finally, we wrap things up with the last men’s game of the first round, as the Verdun Vikings line up against the Concordia Warriors. Much like the ladies’ game at the start of the evening, these teams know the chase is on, and with the Griffintown Gaels currently perched on the top of men’s league, a win here will be essential in keeping pace with them. These two sides should be very evenly matched, with emerging talent playing alongside grizzled veterans, all of which promises a fine display of football to wrap things up for Week 2.
