After a longer than expected leave of absence we were finally back in the familiar surroundings of Vanier
Lengthy absence it certainly was, along with the newly seeded grass field but that didn’t prevent us
witnessing an entertaining night of football between the Goosevillage Blackrocks and Verdun Vikings.
With 2 games in 3 days it was the Vikings who had a more sluggish start as the Blackrocks steeped the
pressure on with scores from Evelyn Moisan and Claire Lubell. Impressive point taking from Aoife
Mchale kept the Vikings ticking over but it was the Rocks who would go in at half time with a
If it was goals you were looking for well the second half didn’t disappoint as Jenn Dumais, linking up well
with Annie Gaumond to raise the green flag on more than one occasion. Likewise at the other end goals
from Emily Jibb and Eimear O’ Leary Barrett helping the Vikings claw their way back into this contest.
The half continued in this vein and in the closing minutes (with the Rocks having a slim 2 goal cushion) a
scurry in the Blackrocks goalmouth saw the ball hitting off the post and narrowly going wide, letting the
Blackrocks off the hook.
Talking to players and supporters afterwards, they all agreed a thrilling game of football had just been
